Indoor tanning lotions are specially formulated for indoor tanning in order to enhance and stimulate the body’s natural tanning process. They not only protect the moisture levels in your skin but also allow your pores to open up and increase your UV exposure!

Benefits of Using a Lotion:

• Skin conditioning is one of the most important parts and often overlooked part of the tanning process. Tanning is a biological process requiring a specific sequence of reactions in your skin and having the right nutrients available is crucial to this process.
• Many of the high-quality indoor tanning lotions have a refractive prism of natural oils that cause a magnification of the UV light, this helps intensify your tan.
• Indoor tanning lotions that contain vitamins, natural oils, minerals, anti-oxidants, natural botanical extracts, and aloe vera give your skin the extra moisture needed to achieve a deeper tan… plus it will last longer than dry, unhealthy skin.
• Moisturisation is crucial! Dry skin reflects UV light, so if you are not using an indoor tanning lotion, you can be wasting up to 50% of your tanning session.

Types of Lotion:

• Maximisers – These products are specifically formulated to condition the skin and add moisture – they do not contain any bronzing or tingle properties. These are recommended for beginners.
• Bronzers – These products contain bronzers, which make the skin look darker. There are various types of bronzers, all of which are perfectly safe to use. There are clear/white bronzers (which do not leave a guide colour on your skin but will still darken your skin), natural or cosmetic bronzers (which contain either natural or man made pigments that darken your skin), instant bronzers (which will instantly bronze the skin) and DHA bronzers (darkens the skin when exposed to protein in the skin). These can be used by beginners and intermediate sunbed users.
• Tingle – These creams have a marmite effect on customers! They contain ingredients that increase blood circulation in the skin to boost your tanning experience, resulting in a tingling sensation. These lotions will result in temporary reddening of the skin and should not be applied to the face. These should only be used by advanced tanners who do not have sensitive skin. If in doubt, do a patch test first!
